From June 19 – 21, Prof. Youn-Bae Kang visited the Department of Ferrous Metallurgy. He is the head of the Clean Steel Laboratory at the Graduate Insitute of Ferrous Technology (GIFT) of Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). There is a long-standing cooperation between the two institutes in the field of continuous casting, inclusion metallurgy and metallurgical thermodynamics. On Monday, Prof. Kang gave a lecture on his current research topics to students and scientific staff and introduced his university. The program continued in the afternoon with a visit to voestalpine Stahl Linz GmbH and primetals technologies Austria GmbH. More than 30 people from industry attended the presentations on “Tramp elements in steel” and “SEN clogging in the continuous casting process”, followed by interesting discussions in a pleasant atmosphere. We would like to express our special thanks to voestalpine and primetals for hosting this exchange meeting.
