Prof. Cho is head of the Controlling Solidification Processes Lab at the renowned Pohang University of Science and Technology (Republic of Korea) and visited the Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy as part of a two-day scientific exchange. There is a long-standing cooperation between the Graduate Institute of Ferrous and Eco Materials Technology (GIFT) at POSTECH and our institute in the field of iron and steel research.
Following an intensive discussion on the first day about solidification and continuous casting of steel and a trip to the historical Styrian Iron Route, Prof. Cho gave a lecture on the second day about his extensive research topics, which include the structure and properties of casting powders, additive manufacturing and solidification of stainless steels.
We thank Prof. Cho very much for the interesting lecture and discussions and look forward to further cooperation with GIFT.
