After four months of renovation work, the newly designed metallography laboratory at the Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy was reopened at the end of October. The laboratory served our students and employees for over 20 years before the extensive renovation started and a new workspace up to the latest state-of-the-art was built.
Particular attention was paid to the selection of high-quality materials and advanced laboratory technology. Not only have the media carriers been replaced, but the laboratory tables and floor have also been adapted to meet modern laboratory standards. The result is a bright, pleasant working environment that improves functionality and meets the requirements of a modern metallography laboratory.
By removing machines that were no longer in use and the well-thought-out design of the laboratory furniture, the space was optimized, which has led to a significant increase in the work surface as well as additional storage space. Besides a new fume cupboard, an additional mobile fume hood was purchased to further increase flexibility and efficiency in the laboratory work.
Thanks to these extensive modernizations, working conditions have been significantly improved. At the same time, the upgrades will help ensure that the laboratory continues to meet the highest standards of research and teaching.
