The ISSCI 2023 was hosted by the University of Newcastle through the Centre for Ironmaking Materials Research (CIMR). Academic and industry experts came together to communicate technological developments in low carbon and sustainable cokemaking and ironmaking, and address opportunities for collaboration. Prof. Johannes Schenk was invited for a keynote lecture and held a speech on the topic “Climate-Neutral Steel Production – The European Approach”. He spoke about the initiatives and technological pathways of the EU steel industry to transform their steel production towards carbon neutrality.
