This week the 109th meeting of the ASMET committee of experts for metallography and microstructure analysis took place at the chair for ferrous metallurgy. The objective of this committee of experts is the transfer of knowledge between researchers, heads of testing laboratories as well as metallographers from all over Austria. Aside from an introduction of the Department Metallurgy as well as the research work of the chair by Univ. Prof. Schenk, interesting scientific talks were held as well. Those talks were:

„Analyse von (Fe, Mn) Oxiden mittels REM/EDX: Bringt die elektrolytische Extraktion was sie verspricht“ by Dipl.-Ing. Alexander Mayerhofer, MUL

„Light4Materials – Realisierbarkeit eines Röntgenlabors mit Synchrotronquelle für die Werkstoffforschung in Österreich“ by Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Josef Brenner, AC2T Research GmbH

„REM-Mikrostrukturanalyse mittels Broad Ion Beam Milling (BIB), ECCI und EBSD“ by Dr. Roland Schmidt, Hitachi High-Technologies Europe GmbH

After these talks, the next activity was a tour through the chair’s laboratory areas for about 30 participants.
