The 11th European Continuous Casting Conference (ECCC) took place in Essen (Germany) from October 7 to 11. Our team from the Chair of Iron and Steel Metallurgy was strongly represented with a total of six participants!
Prof. Christian Bernhard, Michael Bernhard, Peter Presoly, Georg Gaiser, Robert Littringer(Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy) and Daniel Kavić (K1-MET) were able to chair a total of six technical sessions in addition to their own presentations on the topics of strand quality, solidification simulation and data analysis.
We are particularly proud of the fact that Michael Bernhard, as chairman of the Scientific Committee, has made an important contribution to the success of the conference! His role was essential for the excellent scientific organization and the high quality of the selected presentations.
The ECCC was characterized by innovative contributions, with a particular focus this year on the topics of mold instrumentation, automation and AI. However, classic topics such as internal quality and surface cracking were also discussed intensively in several sessions. During this event, our PhD students were able to build valuable contact with industry and promote scientific collaborations.
We would like to thank all organizers and participants for this inspiring conference and look forward to the next time!
