Over the summer, Joanna Popiel from Ghent University, Belgium, interned for six weeks at the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Inclusion Metallurgy in Advanced Steelmaking as part of the IAESTE program. Under the guidance of Dr. Shashank Ramesh Babu, Joanna focused on leveraging data science and machine learning techniques to enhance the prediction of inclusion classes in cast steel. The internship, which concluded on August 18th, 2023, yielded promising results. Joanna spoke highly of her experience and also shared her insights on LinkedIn.
