This year’s Asia Steel Conference was held in Changsha (China) from September 4th to 7th.
Our Chair was represented at this well-known conference by Prof. Johannes Schenk, Michael Bernhard and Robert Littringer.

In his plenary lecture titled “Ongoing Efforts and Challenges in Achieving Carbon-neutral Steel Production”, Prof. Schenk gave an outlook on the future of steel production to a highly interested audience of over 1000 participants from science and industry.

Michael Bernhard presented recent research on austenite grain growth and its applications to the continuous casting process at the Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy. Robert Littringer chaired the conference session on “Steelmaking and Casting” for the first time. As keynote speaker, he presented research results on the influence of silicon and trace elements such as copper and tin on the oxidation behaviour of steels under innovative and climate-friendly process conditions during continuous casting.

Asia Steel provided a good platform for intensive discussions of our presented research activities and promoted the chance to exchange with experts from the US, Asia, and Europe.
